The New York Jets have signed LB Kenwin Cummings to the active roster from the practice squad. The announcement was made by Jets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Cummings (6-3/250/Wingate/Maxton, NC), was signed to the practice squad on Sept. 7, 2009.  He originally signed with the Jets on May 2, 2008 as an undrafted free agent and was inactive for the 2008 season opener at Miami. He was waived on Sept. 10 and signed to the practice squad on Sept. 16 where he spent the remainder of the season.

The New York Jets have signed WR Danny Woodhead to the active roster from the practice squad and have released DT Howard Green. The announcements were made by Jets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Woodhead (5-9/195/Chadron State/North Platte, NE), was signed to the practice squad on Sept. 8, 2009 after being waived Sept. 6.  He originally signed with the Jets on May 2, 2008 as an undrafted free agent and spent the 2008 season on injured reserve. He led the Jets in the 2009 preseason with 226 yards rushing, including 158 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries in the preseason finale against Philadelphia, Sept. 3.

Green (6-2/320/Louisiana State/Donaldsville, LA) signed with the Jets as an unrestricted free agent on Mar. 16, 2009.  He appeared in three games (at Houston, vs. Tennessee, at Miami) this season recording seven tackles (four solo).  Green played in 13 games with Seattle in 2008 and registered 21 tackles, one sack and one forced fumble. Originally a sixth-round draft selection of Houston in 2002, Green has played for Baltimore (2002), New Orleans (2003-04) and Seattle (2007-08). He went to training camp with New Orleans (2005), Miami (2006) and Minnesota (2007) before signing with Seattle as a free agent on Oct. 17, 2007

The New York Jets have waived TE Martrez Milner. The announcement was made by Jets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Milner (TE/6-4/260/Georgia/Gainesville, GA) was originally claimed by the Jets off waivers from the Giants on May 27. He entered the NFL as a fourth-round pick (133rd overall) by the Falcons in the 2007 NFL Draft. Milner played one season with the Falcons (2007) and recorded nine receptions for 50 yards in eight games, starting two. In 2008, he was inactive for Atlanta’s first two games before he was waived, Sept. 16. Milner signed with the Giants practice squad, Sept. 23, and was with the Giants until he was waived May 21, 2009.

The New York Jets have signed free agent LB Craig Kobel and have waived LB Nate Harris and DL Brian Schaefering. The announcements were made by Jets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Kobel (South Florida/Lake Worth, FL/6-2/265) played 2008 with the Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League. He was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles on Jan. 23, 2007 and released on Aug. 28. He also played for Cologne in NFL Europa in 2007 and the AFL’s Utah Blaze in 2006.

Harris (Louisville/Miami, FL/6-0/230), was originally signed as a free agent on Feb. 19, 2009 after being waived by the Kansas City Chiefs on July 25, 2008. In 2007 he played in 15 games, tallying two solo tackles on defense and leading the Chiefs with 20 special teams tackles.

Schaefering (Lindenwood/St. Louis, MO/6-5/295), was signed to the Jets practice squad on Dec. 17, 2008.  Prior to the Jets, Schaefering was waived by the Browns on Aug. 26, 2008 after spending a portion of training camp in Cleveland.

The New York Jets have waived P Reggie Hodges and RB Marcus Mason. The announcement was made by Jets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Hodges (6-0, 235/Ball State/Champaign, IL), originally signed to the Jets active roster on Sept. 7, 2008, has punted in 20 NFL games, 12 in 2008. He has a career 42.8 average on 44 punts, with a 35.5 net average and 23 punts inside-the-20 yard-line. Hodges was originally drafted in the sixth round of the 2005 NFL Draft (210th overall) by the St. Louis Rams. He appeared in five games for the Rams, before he was waived Oct. 10. He then signed with the Eagles on Nov. 2 and appeared in three games, before he was waived Nov. 22. Hodges participated in training camp for the Colts in 2006 and 2007 and for the Seahawks in 2008.

Mason (RB, 5-9, 215, Youngstown State) was originally signed by the Redskins as an undrafted rookie free agent on May 2, 2007, and waived Aug. 31, 2008.  He was signed to Baltimore’s practice squad on Sept. 3, 2008, before the Jets signed him to their active roster on Oct. 29. Mason led the NFL in rushing during the 2008 preseason with 317 rushing yards. He was inactive for seven games during the 2008 season before being waived by the Jets and signed to the practice squad.

 The New York Jets have released RG Brandon Moore and RB Noah Herron and waived DE Sean Conover. The announcements were made by Jets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Moore (RG, 6-3, 295, Illinois) originally signed as an undrafted free agent defensive lineman in 2002 and was converted to an offensive lineman during training camp. He made his regular season debut for the Jets in late 2003 at left guard. The Gary, IN native started 73 consecutive regular season games at right guard since missing three games in the middle of the 2004 season due to injury. 

Herron (RB, 5-11, 225, Northwestern) was signed to a reserve/future contract in January. He was originally selected by the Steelers in the seventh round (244th overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft. He appeared in two games for the Steelers before being waived and signed to Pittsburgh’s practice squad. He was signed to Green Bay’s active roster on Nov. 30, 2005. He appeared in 21 games for the Packers and rushed for 271 yards on 82 attempts (3.3 avg.) and three touchdowns.

Conover (DE, 6-5, 275, Bucknell) signed a reserve/future contract with the Jets this month. He originally signed in the NFL with the Tennessee Titans as a rookie free agent on May 5, 2006, and was promoted to the active roster on Nov. 22, 2006. In two seasons with the Titans, he played in 11 games with two starts, totaling 25 tackles, one tackle for a loss and two quarterback pressures. He had stints on the Falcons and Ravens practice squads in 2008.

he New York Jets have signed the following players to reserve/future contracts: CB Tyron Brackenridge, CB Marquice Cole, DE Sean Conover, LB Nate Harris and DT Nate Robinson. The announcement was made by Jets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Brackenridge (CB, 5-11, 189, Washington State) originally signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as a rookie free agent on May 8, 2007. He saw action in 13 games with one start before being placed on injured reserve on Dec. 23, 2007. He registered 16 tackles (13 solo), one forced fumble and one fumble recovery which he returned 50 yards for a touchdown at San Diego on Sept. 30, 2007. The Pasadena, California native attended training camp with the Chiefs in 2008, but was released Aug. 31, 2008.

Cole (CB, 5-10, 190, Northwestern) was originally signed by the Oakland Raiders as a rookie free agent on May 4, 2007, and was waived on Sept. 1, 2007. He was signed to the Titans practice squad on Dec. 11, 2007 and was signed to the active roster on Feb. 11, 2007. Cole was released on Aug. 8, 2008. He was with the Titans for three regular season contests and one playoff game. He held a brief stint with the New Orleans practice squad from Dec. 9, 2008, until his contract expired on Jan. 5, 2009.

The New York Jets have waived RB Marcus Mason. The announcement was made by Jets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Mason (5-9/215/Youngstown State/Potomac, MD), who signed with the Jets off of the Baltimore Ravens practice squad Oct. 29., originally signed in the NFL with the Washington Redskins as an undrafted free agent on April 30, 2007. He was released on Sept. 11, 2007 and signed to the Washington practice squad on Sept. 12. Mason played all five 2008 preseason games for Washington and led the NFL with 317 yards rushing (4.8 yards per carry). He also caught eight passes for 56 yards (7.0 avg.) and one touchdown before he was released by the Redskins on Aug. 30. He signed with the Ravens practice squad on Sept. 3.

The New York Jets have signed free agent LB Brandon Renkart and free agent DB Ron Girault, released DB Andre Woolfolk, and waived DB Darnell Bing. The announcement was made by Jets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Renkart (6-2/236/Rutgers/Piscataway, NJ), recorded six sacks over the past two seasons, along with 18 stops behind the line of scrimmage and 10 pressures for Rutgers. In his junior season, first as a linebacker, he ranked sixth on the team with 54 tackles (25 solo), 3.5 sacks, 11.5 stops for losses and two pressures in 13 starts. Renkart also excelled in the classroom, where he was a finalist for the prestigious Draddy Trophy, the academic version of the Heisman Trophy.

Girault (5-10/204/Rutgers/Montvale, NJ)), was a four-year starter at Rutgers. In 45 games (40 starts), he recorded 271 tackles (160 solo), 1.5 sacks (for -11 yards), nine tackles for loss, 10 interceptions for 204 yards, seven passes defended, four forced fumbles, four fumbles recovered and two blocked kicks on special teams. Girault originally signed a free agent contract with the Kansas City Chiefs on May 3, but was waived on July 27.

Woolfolk (6-2, 197, Oklahoma), who was originally selected in the first round (28th overall) of the 2003 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans, joined the Jets after being out of football in 2007. In four seasons with Tennessee, Woolfolk played in 39 games and made 11 starts. He totaled 94 tackles, three interceptions, 18 passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

Bing (6-2, 230, USC) was selected by the Oakland Raiders in the fourth round (101st overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft and spent the entire 2006 season on Injured Reserve. He was waived by the Raiders on July 25 and claimed by the San Francisco 49ers July 26. He spent the entire 2007 season on the 49ers practice squad. In 37 career collegiate games (35 starts), he recorded 182 tackles (120 solos), one sack and eight interceptions. An All-American first-team selection by The Associated Press as a senior, he originally signed a reserve/future contract with the Jets on January 15.
